ENERGY TRIAL IS LOOKING FOR BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS FOR A WEIGHT MANAGEMENT RESEARCH STUDY

Studies suggest that overweight breast cancer survivors could be at risk for recurrence. The Cancer Prevention and Control Program
at UCSD is conducting a research study on physical activity and eating attitudes and behaviors in women who are at risk for breast
cancer recurrence. The four-year study funded by the National Institutes of Health National Cancer Institute will help participants learn
more healthful attitudes and behaviors to improve and promote long-term weight control. The UCSD ENERGY Trial is looking for women who are:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Overweight
  • Diagnosed with Stage I-IIIA breast cancer within the previous five years and have completed their initial treatments
  • Willing and able to attend group meetings and maintain contact with investigators for two years
  • Able to be physically active
  • NOT currently enrolled in another nutrition or weight loss study

If you answered yes to all these questions and are available for study related visits for approximately two years, you may be eligible. If eligible, you will complete clinic visits, including blood tests and questionnaires. You may also receive weekly nutritional and lifestyle group counseling at UCSD at no cost.
